Beijing, Yantai, Weihai, Qingdao, Taian, Jinan

Shandong is famous for the grand Mount Tai, the "Cradle of Chinese civilization" Yellow River, and the great philosopher Confucius. Starting in Beijing, and visit Yantai, witness the mystique of Penglai and the port city Weihai, a popular trade route with neighboring Korea. In Qingdao, follow the steps of Qinshihuang to Laoshan, rumored to contain the secret to eternal youth. Traveling onward to Taian, and take an excursion to Mount Tai, visit Qufu, the hometown of Confucius and famous for its Sankong, the Three Confucian Sites, and finally, Jinan, famous for its 72 Springs, a statue in the Chuancheng Square is its landmark, celebrating its status as "Spring City."

Day 1USA to Beijing

We fly to Beijing, the starting point for our Shandong adventure.

Day 2Arrive in Beijing

Arrive in the nation's capital and greet our tour guide in the arrivals hall. Transfer to our luxury accommodations and rest up for tomorrow's tour to Shandong Province.

Day 3Beijing to Yantai

Free at leisure before transfer to the airport for a flight bound for Yantai. Upon arrival, we immediately begin our city tour with a visit to Zhangyu Winery Museum. The Zhangyu Winery was established in 1892, mainly produces brandy and red wines, and now is the largest winery in Asia. Enjoy the chance to sample the wine.

Day 4Yantai - Penglai - Weihai

Our sightseeing tour of Yantai starts with an excursion to Penglai, a fairyland-like resort on the northernmost tip of Shangdong Peninsula. The mystique of Penglai is mostly ascribed to the mirages that occur beyond the sea, and the Penglai Pavilion proves an ideal place for watching the sea, the sunrise, and the sunset. Later, Yantai Hill is visited. Located in the north part of the city, Yantai Hill with its" Yantai Stone" Lighthouse has become the symbol and one of the must-see in Yantai. In the afternoon, we tour toward the famed port city Weihai by motor coach.

Day 5Weihai to Qingdao

Weihai was known as Weihaiwei before. There is Liugong Island known as "Fence in the East", has been opened as a state forest park. During the Sino-Japanese War, the commander's headquarters of the Chinese Beiyang Navy was built on the island. The Jiawuzhanzheng Museum and Huancui Park are also visited before we leave for Qingdao, a beautiful harbour city on the Yellow Sea. Numerous European style villas and churches have turned this city into a veritable world architecture museum. After a whole day sightseeing, a fine seafood dinner will be provided for your enjoyment.

Day 6Qingdao - Laoshan - Qingdao

Our day starts with a visit to Laoshan, the "Top Spectacular Mountain on the sea". Renowned of the visits of Qinshihuang and Emperor Wudi of the Han, Laoshan is famous as the cradle of Chinese Taoism as well. Taiqing Palace, the most famous Taoist temple in Laoshan, is visited as well. Qingdao Beer is one of the finest brands in China. The Qingdao Beer Museum was built in celebration of the 100- year anniversary of the brand. We visit the museum and have a chance to sample the beer. In the afternoon we take a boat ride to the sea, and overlook the beautiful Little Qingdao Isle far away. Zhanqiao Pier and Zhanshan Temple are visited before we end up the day with a Shandong specialty cuisine dinner.

Day 7Qingdao to Taian

After visits to Xiaoyushan Park (Little Fish Hill), the May Fourth Square and Sculpture Museum, we depart Qingdao and drive to Taian, an ancient city renowned for Mount Tai.

Day 8Taian

Whole day excursion to Mount Tai, a historical and cultural significance located north of Taian. As one of the "Five Sacred Mountains" in China, Mt. Tai has been a place of worship for emperors for at least 3,000. Since 1987, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Our first stop at the foot of Mt. Tai is Dai Temple, the largest and most complete ancient building complex in the area. From here, we go up to the summit via cable car.

Day 9Taian - Qufu - Taian

Today we take an excursion to Qufu, the hometown of Confucius. The three most famous cultural sites of the city, collectively known as Sankong (The Three Confucian Sites), are the Temple of Confucius, the Cemetery of Confucius, and the Kong Family Mansion. Together, these three sites have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. Before we drive back to Taian, we enjoy Kong Family Banquet.

Day 10Taian to Jinan

Proceed to Jinan with a stop at Lingyen Temple. Upon arrival at Jinan, the city tour shows us some famous attractions including Bao Tu Springs, Daming Lake, and Chuancheng Square. Taste Shangdong specialty cuisine for dinner.

Day 11Jinan - Beijing

General Reservations Terms & Conditions

  1. A $100/person nonrefundable deposit is due within 7 days of tour confirmation. If the reservation date is less than 30days prior to the tour departure date, full payment is due at time of reservation. Deposits may be made by check or cash. Credit card deposits will incur a 4% service fee.

Cancellations: All cancellations must be by written notice via email, fax or post sent directly to Signature Travel & Tours. Cancellation fees apply. Please refer to each individual tour's terms and conditions for cancellation fee schedule.

Tour Fare Inclusions

  1. Transportation by air-conditioned motor-coach
  2. Hotel accommodations for trips lasting more than 1 day. Price is based on two adults sharing one room, double occupancy.
  3. Sightseeing excursions and entrance fees as specified in the itinerary. Exclusions may apply. Please refer to the individual tour's Terms and Conditions for inclusions and exclusions.
  4. Escorted tours are conducted in Mandarin and/or English by professional tour guides. Refer to each individual tour for language specifications.
  5. Meals are included only where indicated in the tour itinerary. All other meals are not included.

Tour Fare Exclusions

  1. Airfare is not included in any of the tour prices unless otherwise indicated or specified. It is the responsibility of the traveler to arrive at the starting point of the tour.
  2. Meals not indicated in the itinerary.
  3. Any optional tour or activity not indicated in the itinerary.
  4. Transportation fee to/from your home town to/from the airport.
  5. Gratuity for tour guides, drivers, bellman, maid, etc.

General Conditions and Responsibility

  1. Tour Cancellation: Signature Travel & Tours reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to the departure of the tour, Signature Travel & Tours' only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour. Signature Travel & Tours will try to re-book the same or similar tour, subject to availability.
  2. Seat Rotation: All seat in coach tours will have seats rotated daily by the tour guide and particular seats cannot be booked.
  3. Itinerary variations: Signature Travel & Tours constantly strives to improve its tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can be made or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary, we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels.
  4. Passport & Visas: Please ensure you have the proper documents for travel and to verify with the consulate of the country you are traveling to prior to your trip.
  5. Signature Travel & Tours reserves the right to decline, to accept or retain any person as a tour participant should such person's mental or physical health impede the operation of the tour or the rights of other tour participants.
  6. Our tour guides are not professionally trained in supplementing first aid or assisting with the disabled. Signature Travel & Tours is not in the position of providing any kind of special attention to clients with special needs. Should someone with special needs wish to join a tour, they must provide for their own care-taker.
  7. It is strongly recommended that infants under two years old join in any long distance tours.
  8. By participating in this tour, you agree to the terms and conditions set forth by Signature Travel & Tours and may not be altered.
Passports & Visas It is the responsibility of the Traveler to have a valid passport, with a validity of at least six (6) months after your tour end date. Your travel consultant or Signature Travel & Tours can assist you in obtaining the necessary application forms to obtain your passport. Non-US citizens must consult with the appropriate consulates to determine if any additional visas are required. It is suggested that all travelers, regardless of the passport they hold, check with the appropriate consulates of the countries being visited to determine if any visas are required. Should you wish for Signature Travel & Tours to process your China visa, the fee is $170USD for a one year, multiple entry visa for US citizens, valid from the issue date and good for a stay of up to 30 days in China per visit. The processing time is 10 working days. You must submit your original passport, one (2x2) color photo with a white background, and a completed China visa application to our office. The visa fee is non-refundable for any reason and is subject to change without prior notice. If you require expedited return service, please enclose an additional $25 to your total deposit and it will be sent back immediately upon return from the consulate. If you are applying for your own China visa, a copy of your passport should be sent to Signature Travel & Tours along with a copy of your China visa. All documents and air tickets will be issued under your passport name. Signature Travel & Tours is not responsible should you be denied a visa or entrance for any reason into a foreign country, regardless if you have a valid passport and visa, in which case, the visa fee and land reservations will not be refunded.
